GAME PREVIEW: Barnstormers @ Wranglers
GAME PREVIEW: Barnstormers @ Wranglers
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers return to the field Sunday, May 17 to face off with the Northern Arizona Wranglers (6:30 p.m., Yahoo!).
Iowa is coming off of a jubilant win over Quad City in which its defense held the Steamwheelers to just two points over the final 30 minutes – it's the best defensive half from a Barnstormers team since the 41-3 win over Green Bay in 2019.
The defense, led by captain Tyler Tate, hopes to keep the momentum against a NAZ offense that has been held to below 30 points in three of their six games this season.
Jon Adams Jr. has been an electric point for the unit, securing an interception in each of the two games he's played in.
On the offensive side of things, Dante Aviles-Santos made his debut at the quarterback spot against Quad City and had the team's best passing performance of the year.
Aviles-Santos finished 16-23 with 207 yards through the air, along with four touchdown passes – each ended in the hands of wide receiver Donald McKinney.
Iowa and NAZ will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Fans can tune into the game live on Yahoo! Sports or visit the team's Official Watch Party at Rookie's Sports Bar & Grill in Clive, Iowa.
The Barnstormers will return to the Casey's Center for their Annual Military Appreciation Night game against the Jacksonville Sharks on Friday, May 22 (7:00 p.m.).
