GAME RECAP: Barnstormers vs. Steamwheelers
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers earned their first win of the season Saturday, beating the Quad City Steamwheelers 35-25 in front of a raucous Casey's Center crowd.
Quarterback Dante Aviles-Santos filled into the position and helped lead the Barnstormers to their first win in 18 games.
Aviles-Santos found Donald McKinney for a hat trick of touchdowns, scoring three for Iowa in his best performance of the year.
Barnstormers defensive back Jon Adams Jr. sealed the win with his second interception in as many games with Iowa.
It was the cherry on top of the team's best defensive performance of the season, that was bookended with a shutout of Quad City in the 4th quarter.
The Barnstormers will return to the field after a bye week for a road matchup with Northern Arizona (0-5) on Sunday, May 17 with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
