GAME RECAP: Barnstormers vs. Blizzard
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers opened the 2026 home campaign with Racing Night at the Casey's Center for the home opener against Green Bay.
The Barnstormers debuted new red helmets and pants, unveiled to the fans and players just moments before the team would take the field.
It marks the first time in the team's rich history that Iowa wore primarily red uniforms.
Green Bay got off to a hot start, but Iowa would respond - wideout Kurtis Ravenel secured a touchdown in the second quarter to put the Barnstormers on the scoreboard.
Iowa would trim its deficit after nack-to-back touchdowns receptions by Demonte Martin, with the second coming on a tipped ball, to 30-19 early in the third quarter.
The Barnstormers tried to claw back in it, with quarterback Harisson Roubidoux finding Donald McKinney for his first touchdown of the season, and Ravenel earning his second score of the night.
In the end, Green Bay secured the victory 50-39, with Ravenel securing a third touchdown catch before time expired.
Iowa will return to the field next week to take on the Fishers Freight in the team's second road matchup of the season.
The Barnstormers return home next for an April 25 date against the Freight for Family Night presented by Broadlawns Medical Center, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
