Iowa Barnstormers Add Rookie Talent to 2017 Roster

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers add four rookies to their training camp roster with the signing of running back Donavan Williams, wide receiver Gerald Thomas, defensive lineman Dasmine Cathey, and defensive back Carlos Anderson, Head Coach Dixie Wooten announced today.

Williams (6-0, 215, Sam Houston State) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Williams played two years at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). In 2014, Williams became the 10th SHSU running back to rush for more than 200 yards in a game with 13 carries for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns. Prior to attending Sam Houston State, Williams spent time at ASA College where he earned NJCAA All-America honorable mention and All-Northeast Conference running back as a sophomore.

Thomas (5-10, 180, Sam Houston State) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the IFL. Collegiately, Thomas played two years at Sam Houston State University. In his first season with the SHSU Bearkats, Thomas started in two games and debuted as the team's second leading receiver with 25 catches for 389 yards. In 2014, Thomas appeared in all 16 games, earning the start in 10.

Cathey (6-6, 238, Memphis) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the IFL. Collegiately, Cathey attended the University of Memphis starring in 12 games in both 2010 and 2011. Cathey began his collegiate career in 2010 with 23 total tackles and 3 total sacks finishing in 2011 with 19 total tackles.

Anderson (6-0, 185, Portland State) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the IFL. 

These four athletes will be amongst 40 players who enter the Iowa Barnstormers 2017 training camp in February.
