Iowa Barnstormers to Host First Annual Alumni Night

DES MOINES – On Saturday, June 20th the Iowa Barnstormers will host Alumni Night at Wells Fargo Arena. Celebrating 20 years of rich Barnstormers history with former coaches, players, and owners, fans will have the opportunity to receive an exclusive Jim Zabel bobble head and bid on Barnstormers throwback jerseys in the auction fundraiser.

The first annual Iowa Barnstormers Alumni Night will be held at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday, June 20, 2015. To begin the evening, the first 2,000 fans at the door will receive a Jim Zabel bobble head, sponsored by Scrap Processors, Inc. and WHO 1040 AM. Zabel was the Barnstormers radio play-by-play when the team formed in 1995. Passionate about all Iowa sports, Zabel was not only the team’s biggest enthusiast, but also their number one fan. Zabel will also be inducted to the Iowa Barnstormers Hall of Fame during a halftime ceremony.

An evening inviting all Barnstormers alumni back to Des Moines will include appearances by Jill Zabel, Coach John Gregory, Ed Podolak, Rodney Filer, and many more! A pre-game VIP reception will be hosted on June 20 where fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite former Barnstormers. Tickets to the VIP reception cost $45 and include a ticket to that night’s game and a Jim Zabel bobble head. The season ticket holder price for this event is $25. Through the silent auction, fans will have the opportunity to bid on Barnstormers 90’s throwback jerseys. The silent auction will be held behind section 124, near the Customer Service Booth and will extend through the end of the third quarter. Proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to Shining for Sarah, a fundraiser for 10-year-old Sarah who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
