Lewis Earns Defensive Player of the Week
Iowa’s Mike Lewis Recognized by AFL for Week 12 Honors
DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers defensive lineman Mike Lewis was named the Arena Football League’s Riddell Defensive Player of the Week, the League announced today.
Lewis (6-2, 260, Adrian) collected seven tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in Iowa’s 58-48 victory over the Orlando Predators in Week 12. He also moved past B.J. Cohen for fifth place on the AFL’s career sack leaders list, bringing his five-year total to 47.5 in the game. 2014 is Lewis’ fifth in the Arena Football League. So far this season, he has tallied 9.5 sacks for a loss of 53 yards. In addition, Lewis has accounted for 27 total tackles and has served as one of the leaders of the Barnstormers defensive line.
