Barnstormers Sign Trio from Tryout![]() Barnstormers Sign Trio from Tryout DES MOINES – Head Coach Ameer Ismail announced today that the Iowa Barnstormers have signed three players from the team’s 2020 Open Tryout. Running back Brycen Alleyne, defensive lineman Tymere DuBose, and defensive back Charles Reid will be joining the team’s training camp roster. On Sunday, December 8 in Des Moines, Iowa the Iowa Barnstormers held their annual Open Tryout. Over 40 athletes from across the country competed for a chance at making the 2020 Barnstormers roster. Three of those hopefuls, running back Brycen Alleyne, defensive lineman Tymere DuBose, and defensive back Charles Reid impressed Coach Ismail and earned invitations to training camp. Alleyne (5’6, 165, Delaware State University) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Alleyne played four seasons at Delaware State University. Alleyne appeared in 41 games with the Hornets where he rushed 424 times for 1,719 yards and 11 touchdowns and also collected 66 receptions for 491 yards and two touchdowns. Throughout his college career, Alleyne racked up numerous honors including 2x MEAC All-Conference Running Back (2017, 2018), 2017 Phil Steele All-Conference Kick Returner, and 2018 Phil Steele All-Conference Running Back. “Brycen is a guy I had watched film on prior to the tryout and looked very good,” said Coach Ismail. “I wanted to see him move live against other athletes at the tryout and see his size and hands. He didn’t disappoint, he had the fastest recorded 40 and looked really smooth running routes. I expect him to come in and compete for a starting spot.” DuBose (6’5, 305, University of Kentucky) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the IFL as well. Collegiately, DuBose played four years at the University of Kentucky where he appeared in 33 games collecting 24 total tackles and three tackles for loss. “Tymere moved extremely well for a lineman his size,” said Coach Ismail. “He has good length and hands and has had experience in an NFL camp with the Carolina Panthers. Coming in to Training Camp I want him to be tough, relentless, and able to control the guy in front of him.” Reid (5’8, 180, Assumption College) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the IFL. Collegiately, Reid played four years at Assumption College where he appeared in 47 games collecting 127 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, nine interceptions, and 30 pass breakups. During his time at Assumption College, Reid was named to the Student Athlete Honor Roll twice. “Charles had good footwork and leverage, he proved to be a disciplined and well-coached DB that can play man coverage as well,” said Coach Ismail. “He will add depth to the defensive backs that can cover high-motion receivers consistently. I want to see him come to camp coachable, consistent, and opportunistic.” Brycen Alleyne, Tymere DuBose, and Charles Reid will join the Iowa Barnstormers 40-man Training Camp in February. Coach Ismail expects these athletes to come to camp in shape, study as much as they can, be coachable, and have a great attitude. “At the tryout, all three of these athletes were in tremendous shape,” said Coach Ismail. “They showed the ability to run and also the ability to adjust and adapt on the fly.” His advice as they prepare for Training Camp? “Just come into camp in the best shape you can be and watch IFL film before arriving so you know what full speed game action looks like.” Season Tickets are on sale for the 2020 season starting as low as $80 per seat. Don’t miss a minute of the action this season! For more information, call the Barnstormers at (515) 633-2255 or log on to www.theiowabarnstormers.com. ### |
