Barnstormers Outgunned By Vigilantes 65-55

Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa Barnstormers dropped another see-saw battle as they fell to the Dallas Vigilantes on Saturday night 65-55 before 8,059 fans at Wellmark Field. With the loss, the Barnstormers fall to 3-10 on the season, while Dallas improves to an 8-5 record and moves closer to clinching a playoff spot.

The story remained the same for the Barnstormers as it has the past few weeks. Iowa once again fell behind early and was unable to recover. Dallas jumped out to a quick 20-7 first quarter lead, as QB Dan Raudabaugh threw for 3 touchdowns. The teams played a fairly even second quarter as Iowa cut the lead to 34-20 when QB Brad Banks found WR Todd Blythe in the back of the end zone for a remarkable touchdown with just seconds remaining in the first half.

Iowa came out of the locker room an inspired bunch and scored the first 15 points of the 3rd quarter, taking a 35-34 lead. However the lead was brief as Dallas roared back to quickly take a 41-35 lead. Iowa followed up with two costly fumbles as the fourth quarter started which led to two Dallas Touchdowns giving the Vigilantes a 20 point cushion. Iowa showed their pride as they narrowed the lead to 10 at the end of the game, but Dallas proved to be the better team in the end.

The Barnstormers are back on the road next weeks, as they head to Chicago to battle the division leading Chicago Rush on Sunday June 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05pm. Iowa returns home on Friday, July 1 when they take on the Tulsa Talons at 7:05pm. Great seats are available for purchase at the Wells Fargo Arena box office, by calling the Barnstormers at 515.633.2255 online at www.theiowabarnstormers.com.
