Iowa Barnstormers Sign Former UNI Panther
QB Brion Carnes joins Iowa Barnstormers

DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have signed former University of Northern Iowa quarterback Brion Carnes, Head Coach Joe Brannen announced today.

Carnes (6-1, 205, University of Northern Iowa) is entering his second year as a member of the Indoor Football League (IFL). Carnes joined the Nebraska Danger late in the 2015 season, starting in one game where he threw for five touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns. Before joining the IFL, Carnes played collegiately at the University of Northern Iowa where he saw action at quarterback, running back, kick returner, and punt returner. Over the 2014 season, Carnes passed for 1,182 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 314 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Off the field, Carnes finds his passion in giving back to the community. Carnes is an advocate for the Baby Dae Lyric Foundation which provides assistance to families with children who are developmentally disabled as well as children who suffer from cancer. Carnes became involved with this organization at the beginning stages, embracing the opportunity to spread awareness.

“We are excited to have Brion in a Barnstormers uniform this spring,” said Coach Brannen. “He is an extremely athletic player, as he showed during his time at UNI. He has a year of experience in the indoor game and I am looking forward to watching him grow as a quarterback. He has a unique skillset that will fit nicely with what we do offensively.”
