NEWS FROM THE IFL: IFL Announces Addition of Tucson Expansion Team
Team Will Commence IFL Play in 2019
TUCSON, AZ- Tucson Indoor Football today announced the launch of a new expansion team in the Indoor Football League (IFL), that will play at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC) Arena starting in the 2019 IFL season.
“This is Tucson’s team,” said Team Owner Kevin Guy. “We love the market and want to be a part of the growth of the downtown district. We feel Tucson is a perfect fit in the Indoor Football League. It fits our strategic plan of developing a western conference. It is a high scoring, fast paced game where fans can reach out and interact with the players. We look forward to building a passionate fan base by putting a great product on the field.”
Kevin and Cathy Guy are the Majority Owners of Tucson Indoor Football franchise. Kevin has spent 19 seasons in arena and indoor football, 14 as a general manager and head coach, and ten seasons with the IFL’s Arizona Rattlers. In his time with the Rattlers, he has become the winningest head coach in the history of the team, passing Danny White this past season. He has played for six world championships and won four in his ten seasons with the team.

We are looking forward to building relationships and giving back to our community. The indoor product is an interactive, fun, family entertainment everyone will enjoy.”
Ali Farhang is also an owner of the new expansion team. Farhang is the Founder and Chairman of the Board for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, which is held annually at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. Ali is also an AV-rated attorney who practices in the areas of labor and employment, business consultation, commercial litigation and personal injury defense.
“We are proud to have a diverse group of prominent Tucson community leaders in our ownership group. Ali shares a vision of not only building a championship-caliber franchise, but ensuring that the team is impactful in the community,” said Kevin Guy. “Ali and other local owners will provide the team with expertise on economics, politics, and community nuances.”
Tucson Indoor Football has brought on Mike Feder to be the Executive Director of the new franchise. Feder spent 15 years as the General Manager of the Triple-A Baseball team in Tucson. Feder has spent 37 years as the top executive in professional sports, including three years guiding the AFL’s New Orleans VooDoo and the Austin Wranglers.
“During our search, we were looking for someone that had experience running sports teams and in the Tucson market. Mike has a unique combination of dynamic leadership skills, relevant experience, and someone who fits the Culture we are developing,” Kevin Guy said. “He quickly stood out from the pool of candidates because of his commitment to customer service and support of employee culture. We look forward to working with Mike and having team success.”
The team has yet to name a head coach, who will oversee Tucson’s football operations and assemble a team staff and roster.
Fans can already secure their season tickets for the Tucson Indoor Football team with a $50 deposit per account by visiting the team’s website at www.tucsonindoorfootball.com. Seat selection is based on a first-come-first-serve priority. Tucson Indoor Football representatives will reach out at a later date to fill orders and show seat locations.

The Indoor Football League was founded in 2008, and has just concluded its 10th season in 2018. Tucson Convention Center Arena in downtown Tucson has been host to a variety of shows and events. TCC is operated by SMG. SMG is the “gold standard” in public facility management and they have the programs, systems and talent in place to ensure that all SMG-managed facilities run smoothly and every event they host feels like a celebration.
The Tucson Convention Center / Arena is host to more than 500,000 guests annually, and is home to the American Hockey League’s Tucson Roadrunners.
The team name and team colors have yet to be announced.
