NEWS FROM THE IFL: IFL Announces Addition of Tucson Expansion Team
Team Will Commence IFL Play in 2019

TUCSON, AZ- Tucson Indoor Football today announced the launch of a new expansion team in the Indoor Football League (IFL), that will play at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC) Arena starting in the 2019 IFL season.

“This is Tucson’s team,” said Team Owner Kevin Guy. “We love the market and want to be a part of the growth of the downtown district. We feel Tucson is a perfect fit in the Indoor Football League. It fits our strategic plan of developing a western conference. It is a high scoring, fast paced game where fans can reach out and interact with the players. We look forward to building a passionate fan base by putting a great product on the field.”

Kevin and Cathy Guy are the Majority Owners of Tucson Indoor Football franchise. Kevin has spent 19 seasons in arena and indoor football, 14 as a general manager and head coach, and ten seasons with the IFL’s Arizona Rattlers. In his time with the Rattlers, he has become the winningest head coach in the history of the team, passing Danny White this past season. He has played for six world championships and won four in his ten seasons with the team.

“We are excited to bring a unique experience to the Tucson community’” said Co-Owner and COO of Tucson Indoor Football Cathy Guy. “We believe in the city and the people of Tucson. We are looking forward to building relationships and giving back to our community. The indoor product is an interactive, fun, family entertainment everyone will enjoy.”

Ali Farhang is also an owner of the new expansion team. Farhang is the Founder and Chairman of the Board for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, which is held annually at Arizona Stadium in Tucson. Ali is also an AV-rated attorney who practices in the areas of labor and employment, business consultation, commercial litigation and personal injury defense.

“We are proud to have a diverse group of prominent Tucson community leaders in our ownership group. Ali shares a vision of not only building a championship-caliber franchise, but ensuring that the team is impactful in the community,” said Kevin Guy. “Ali and other local owners will provide the team with expertise on economics, politics, and community nuances.”

Tucson Indoor Football has brought on Mike Feder to be the Executive Director of the new franchise. Feder spent 15 years as the General Manager of the Triple-A Baseball team in Tucson. Feder has spent 37 years as the top executive in professional sports, including three years guiding the AFL’s New Orleans VooDoo and the Austin Wranglers.

“During our search, we were looking for someone that had experience running sports teams and in the Tucson market. Mike has a unique combination of dynamic leadership skills, relevant experience, and someone who fits the Culture we are developing,” Kevin Guy said. “He quickly stood out from the pool of candidates because of his commitment to customer service and support of employee culture. We look forward to working with Mike and having team success.”

The team has yet to name a head coach, who will oversee Tucson’s football operations and assemble a team staff and roster.
